Chapter 2 Update: Cailean!

Here it is! The next update, all about one good kelpie boy, Cailean!

This update contains an additional ~9,000 words, for a total of 43,888 in-game words! Whoa! There’s also a five shiny new silhouettes for five new background characters, and one fancy new background image!

We’ve been experimenting with some cool movement and camera stuff in this update. This was seen in earlier updates as well, but not to the extent we have used it for this update. We’re excited for you to check it out!

We’ve also started working on a fix to repair save games when a new version is downloaded. Since we often have to change things in previously-played content, (as this is a work-in-progress) it can mess up player’s save files, sometimes causing them to become unplayable. We’ve been working on ways to fix this in the future! If you had a previous save that was corrupted by an update, there's now a feature that will prompt you to repair your save data by informing the game what choices you made previously. (We'll try to find a cleaner way to fix saves in the future, but this is what we've got for now.)

There’s also a known issue currently where if you use Ren’Py’s “skip” function at certain points, it can cause the characters to not appear when they are supposed to come onscreen, or it can mess with the height they’re standing at. We’re currently working on a fix for this, but in the meantime, please avoid using the “skip” feature during Cailean’s new event. (Or if you do, please enjoy laughing at the graphical bugs that result.)

So, in summary:

New in this release:

  • ~9k new words of content, mostly involving Cailean
  • One new background
  • Five new silhouettes
  • Even more camera motion!
  • Character cameos!

Fixes:

  • Typographical fixes
  • Save file repair
  • Some dialogue cleanup

Known bugs:

  • Skip function causes graphical issues in some scenes.

Early-Access Patrons received access to a draft of this update roughly a month ago-- remember you can support us on Patreon to get access to updates earlier and be able to vote for which characters will receive updates next! (By selection of Patrons of every level, the next update will be about Elsie!) We also have a $200 Patreon goal to add full sprite art with expressions for Cailean's big brother Tre!

Special thanks to NoisyParker, Batteryfish, Christian Esser, Fishie78, Hannah Pixie, Joseph Flores, Gwen Wheeler, Rika Focs, and Saffron for supporting this update’s release!

Wow, I don't even know what to say. I'm absolutely in love with this game. I fell hard for Cailean immediately and I will protect this child with my life. I don't know when your next update will be but I eagerly await more time with this sweet boy.

Sorry for posting here, but on the version (i just paid 1usd for the download) there were mistake in dialogue ''I don't get lost on the way to class.''(in this way 'get lost' is insult. in addition there were error upon trying to email the developer renpy's codes showed up.

thank you for reading.

I chose phone call 'dad' in game, how about all of you?

I will see what I can do to support the game further.

Hello!! Thank you for supporting us!! <3

I don't believe that can be counted as a mistake in the dialogue. Telling someone to "get lost" would be a way of rudely telling them to go away, it's true. But in this context, the MC is saying that they were on the way to class and didn't lose the way there. It would be like if someone asked you, "Did you get lost?" and you could respond, "No, I didn't get lost." and none of that exchange would be considered an insult. (Unless, of course, the other person is slighting your navigation skills--!!)

Thank you so much for playing!! Maybe soon you can have a real conversation with Dad... c:

Thank you and I'm sorry for the partially wrong report. I'll ask teacher about it.
Go Monstra ! :)

of course I enjoyed it! I just wanna give him a hug and make him feel better :(
